So far, the formatting and installation using Netbootin works fine, but I can't get persistence to work with the stick totally as ext4. Nobugs wrote:This is what I'm trying to do. Not tried this yet though.Ĭan anyone throw any light on whether my goals are achievable or offer any assistance to point me in the right direction. Perhaps it should be renamed to *.img to spark it into life. Nothing happens, except the stick is unmounted then nothing. Tried dd'ing with the image program in Mint13, but it does not work. I want the whole caboodle as ext4 with persistence. Also the installation part containing the OS is normally formatted as fat32 and the persistence as (usually) ext2. I know how to create a live system and then increase the casper file by creating a separate partition, but it's a lot slower than having the stick solely formatted as ext4. I don't want to install to the stick as it locks me into the hardware being used and portability is my aim. The system is very fast to boot and generally snappier with just ext4. Install Mint13 WITH persistence, so that the whole stick space is utilized. Format a brand new 16 or 32GB USB stick with the Ext4 fle system. ![]()
